ACCIDENTS & INJURIES

Understand the injury.
Know the next step.

Motor vehicle collisions, slips and falls, and sports impacts can place sudden force on the spine and joints. We start with what happened—and what the examination shows.

WHY THE DETAILS MATTER

The force matters.
So do the findings.

Blunt-force trauma means a sudden impact or force to the body. It can affect muscles, ligaments, discs, nerves, bones, and joints. The type of event alone does not tell us which structures were injured.

We review your symptoms, injury history, physical findings, and any prior conditions to understand what care or further testing is appropriate.

TYPES OF INJURIES WE ASSESS

Different events.
The same careful approach.

01

Motor vehicle collisions

We assess symptoms and functional changes following a crash.

02

Slips and falls

Falls can affect the spine, extremities, and surrounding tissues.

03

Sports impacts

We examine injuries related to contact, loading, and movement.

04

Other blunt trauma

We consider the force involved and the findings from your exam.

OUR EVALUATION PROCESS

Four clear steps.
Care guided by the findings.

We follow a consistent clinical process and adjust it to each patient.

01

Understand the event

We review how the injury happened, your symptoms, and your history.

02

Examine and document

We assess movement, strength, joint function, and neurologic findings as needed.

03

Use imaging when needed

X-rays, MRI, or referral for other testing may be appropriate based on the history and examination.

04

Explain the plan

We discuss conservative care, follow-up, or referral to another medical professional.

DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

See what needs
a closer look.

Imaging can help answer specific questions about an injury. X-rays can help assess bones. MRI can provide more detail about discs, ligaments, nerves, and other soft tissues.

Not every injury needs an X-ray or MRI. We consider imaging when the history, symptoms, and examination support it. Suspected serious injuries call for urgent medical evaluation and appropriate testing.

EXPERIENCE THAT INFORMS OUR CARE

From the athletic field
to the clinic.

As a former Division I baseball player at Penn State, Dr. Bryan Voithofer experienced injuries firsthand. That experience helped shape his interest in careful assessment, diagnostic imaging, and long-term joint function.

His chiropractic education, clinical experience, additional MRI training, and collaboration with medical specialists inform his evaluation of each patient.

OUR GOAL

Find the problem.
Explain the options.

Every care plan starts with the individual—not a preset conclusion about an injury.
