Olivia's Morning Shake

February 17

Need to get your toddler more healthy nutrients? Try this healthy shake! We use it in addition to sweet potato or eggs in the morning. This is not intended as a meal replacement.

Use this recipe as a guideline. Be creative! Try different fruits and veggies.

  • 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 can of coconut (for extra creamy texture and nutrient boost)
  • About 1 cup of frozen mixed berries
  • About 2-3 handfuls of spinach
  • 2 spoonfuls of vanilla protein powder

Below are some ideas to mix it up! We make them based on what we have at home. Be creative!

  • 1/2 of an orange, or 1/2 banana, or 1/2 apple
  • Carrots, celery, or kale
  • Avocado (fresh or frozen)
  • BONUS: add your child's vitamins if they don't like taking them on their own. We add vitamin D drops to her glass to make sure she gets all of it.

Healthy Fats: What To Buy?

August 14

Foods with healthy fats

Nut Butters

  • Look for oil separation, not “stir free”
  • Ingredient label should have few ingredients. Ex: Peanuts and salt
  • Look for Peanut butter made from Valencia peanuts (Costco or trader Joes)
  • Avoid partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oils (man made trans-fats- BAD!)
  • Avoid palm oil ingredients
  • Look for Organic and Non-GMO nut butters to ensure the best!

Remember These Tips:

  • Even though you are paying more for healthier food, please realize that you are paying for the extra nutrients to fuel your body. You have one body that God blessed you with. Have respect for it and fuel it with the best that you can.
  • Try to keep your foods in their most natural occurring state as possible such as whole foods likes vegetables, apples, pears etc. Your body will recognize these whole foods and absorb the nutrients much better then processed or boxed foods.
